Our Genetic Counselor
Rio Stenner is a board certified and licensed genetic counselor with 15 years of experience. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care. Specializing in hereditary cancer syndromes and more recently, utilization management, Rio has a deep understanding of the complexities of genetic conditions. Her expertise extends to telehealth, ensuring accessibility to quality genetic counseling services. With a strong background in hereditary cancer genetic counseling, Rio founded the Cancer Genetics Program at Holy Redeemer Hospital and then moved to The Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania. This experience has equipped her with a wealth of knowledge and skills to effectively guide individuals and families through their genetic journeys. Beyond clinical practice, Rio is passionate about community support and has founded two support groups for families affected by hereditary cancer syndromes in the past, and currently serves as a volunteer and board member for a local non-profit, NothingPink.
Rio received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University and then her masters degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Maryland.
